After months of talking, planning and lots and lots of moving, we are so happy to welcome the South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group to Sharpe’s Pottery Heritage and Arts Trust!
Alongside our other partner organisations, the Magic Attic and People Express, the South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group brings an amazing collection of mining artefacts, as well as the expertise and experience that will truly celebrate the mining history of the local area. The group of dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring their unique collection to Sharpe’s Pottery Museum and many artefacts will shortly go on display in our Ground Floor Galleries.
They have a regular meeting space for former miners and anyone else interested in local mining history every Tuesday, 10am-12pm (3rd week of each month is a memories day, dedicated to reminiscence and conversation) – just come down and say hi!
This move has been made possible by generous funding from South Derbyshire District Council and forms a part of our 5-Year plan to Grow and Develop our Trust.
