This week, we have been delighted to host what we are affectionately calling ‘The Swadlincote Tapestry’ in the Kiln!  The hard work of Stuart Walster, a final year student at De Montfort University studying graphic design and illustration, the ‘tapestry’ is a 9-metre long reportage illustration.  “I wanted to show what the people of Swad are like and how we speak”, said Stuart.

All of the illustrations were made on site and Stuart kept it as authentic as possible only drawing what he saw at the time.  The installation has drawn many positive comments and feedback from our visitors who all see a little bit of themselves and the town they love in the scroll.  On display until this Saturday, when it has to be taken down in order to be submitted for his final project, we very much hope Stuart will allow us to host it again in the summer.  Until then, it’s “Cheers me dears!” and good luck to Stuart!  We love his work, and we’re sure his tutors will too.
