Crafted in Clay: Handbuilding Pottery – Coiled dessert-pot with Joanna Dawidowska

Join our hands-on pottery workshop coiled dessert‑pot workshop is a playful, hands‑on clay session where participants create pots and containers that mimic the look of delicious desserts. Using the traditional coiling technique, makers transform simple clay coils into whimsical forms such as cupcakes, ice‑cream swirls, doughnuts, pastries, or layered cakes.
Joanna will demonstrate how to roll even coils, stack and blend them, and maintain strong, neat walls. Participants learn how coiling can create round, tapered, or free‑form shapes perfect for dessert‑themed designs.
The workshop encourages creativity and humour—work will be decorated with coloured slips.
Workshops are generally relaxed and chatty, allowing participants to follow their own ideas while receiving one‑to‑one guidance when needed.
Once completed pots are left to dry. Since clay must be kiln‑fired to harden, pieces are usually taken away for firing and glazing to be returned back after 4-6 weeks.
